Alrighty, so been back from our San Fran adventure for a full week, but the events are still sinking in. Let's begin at the beginning, however, instead of ruining the ending just yet.
Sadly, we did miss Wicked that first night :-( But thankfully, a call to the ticket office (while aboard the train, now 3 hours behind because of its "train traffic") gave us hope if we went in first thing on the morrow. So yeah, like 10 AM. And, needless to say, it was heavenly to sleep lying flat in a real bed instead of those train seats. I mean, yes, they were much roomier than those on an airplane (they even had cool leg rest dealios for to make resting more comfortable for those of us shorter than the American average), but they were still chairs and not beds.
So "on the morrow", as I said, we took a lovely old-school trolley to the Orpheum Theatre on Market St. and . . . the ticket office not only got us seats for that night but they were better seats than those we had obtained previously! So with much joy and gladness, we spent the rest of the day wandering back to Pier 39, eating clam chowder in sourdough bread bowls, and taking a fantastic boat ride out under the Golden Gate Bridge then around Alcatraz.
Yes, unfortunately we didn't get to tour the penitentiary, but the number of "professional" snapshots I took on Jen's equally professional camera kinda made up for that. And all the pictures I took of sailboats. Not sure why, I just think sailboats are freaking awesome and majestic. Something about their contrasting white against the Pacific blue and the gracefulness of the wind through their sails.
Now, on to Wicked!! What can I say? It was simply wicked! It was entertaining and fun! Galinda/Glinda was especially hilarious from the moment "Popular" started and continuing on. It completely arrested my whole focus, and I was immersed in the plot so intensely that I was sad to see it all end. So yes, the point of the trip was quite successful.
Next morning, it was some quick "touristing" (haunting the tourist shops for t-shirts and other thing-a-ma-bobs), then off to the airport for a much shorter return journey! And let's be honest, I slept the whole way: flight to LAX and flight to SLC. So you see, I was completely ready to drive all the way home that night. Why? a) Who wants to stop when they're almost there, and b) I wanted to be home for my birthday the next day.
I had no such luck.
Happy Birthday to me, I received an accident on the freeway before I even got out of Salt Lake. Grrr. Rear-ended. How lovely. I am impressed with myself for dealing with it so calmly though. Finally making it back to Jen's apartment at 2 AM, I couldn't help thinking wistfully that this was the exact time I would've been arriving home.
Yep, never would have been able to call that event as the ending to this trip.

The Big Kick-off!
Well, here's our big opening for our amawesome blog!
We are currently headed on a big adventure to San Fran for what I named our "Wicked Frisco Jail Break". Pourquoi? Parce Que our main purpose is to see Wicked the musical! And also it'd be pretty cool to tour Alcatraz.
Sadly, our adventure has already had bumps in the road. We're taking a train which is already 2 hours behind schedule. Don't know if we'll make it to Wicked tonight...but don't give up hope! Our adventure will succeed!
